Like a flower, like a garden, everything takes time. Seize the moment. Enjoy as you grow and bloom.
Flower Garden by the Lake
CEBU CITY. Cebu is continuously catching the netizens’ attention as a lot of scenic gardens, points of interest, and other romantic destinations pop-up like wild mushrooms. Yes, that truly means that you’ll need to allocate some more hours in your Cebu itinerary.
Among a number of them, TIEZA Botanical Garden tops my go-to list. While a lot of visitors (or travelers) get confused about the gardens due to their similar themes and flower colors, this one gets its distinct look and feel due to its natural grace. Hmmm, I’m not sure if I really made it that clear. Okay, as of this writing, it’s the only garden in Cebu with a scenic and calm body of water—a lake. Yes, you’re reading it right. A garden by the lake in the middle of an advanced and industrialized Cebu City. Isn’t it interesting?
For my love to my avid readers, and for the purpose of this content, let me virtually guide you on how to get there.
The garden is located in Busay, Cebu City. With its altitude and healthy soil, Busay is a barangay known as one of the homes of major suppliers and growers of ornaments and flowers in Cebu.
You’re starting point is at JY Square Mall. If you’re not from Cebu nor sure where it’s located at, you’ll definitely find this map handy. Be sure to thank Google for that!
From there, you can see a number of habal-habal (a motorbike transport) drivers that park their vehicles near the mall while waiting for passengers. They’re friendly and cheerful. Don’t be shy to approach them.
Since there’s a plentiful of gardens and farms in Busay, you’ll need to be very specific when you talk with the drivers. Remember these keywords:
- flower garden
Poof! They’ll get it where you’re trying to go.
Then, the fare agreement follows. We got ours at Php 200 per person. That’s a round-trip rate. Some drivers transport two passengers in each trip, while others prefer only one. Do you find it costly? It’s a mutual feeling then! If you want, you can go with a friend or with your partner who’s experienced with driving on steep and bumpy trails. Travel time ranges from 10 to 15 minutes.
By the way, there’s an entrance fee of Php 20 that’s sort of as an environmental fee.
“Oh, I belong!” I yelled when I realized my shirt matched with the flowers. *Awkward* 🤷🏻♂️
Isn’t it a very scenic and romantic place? It is! IKR? 😜 By the way, I’ve created a video clip of my visit. I’m thinking that you might want to watch the photos in motion. 😇
Voila! I’ve got a better treat for you. A more lucid experience might spark your interest. You can grab your VR box, or simply move your phone (or drag your mouse depending on what device you’re using) upon checking out this 360-degree capture I’ve taken for you.
Something else worth to try >> Cebu City Tour
- Visit the garden during sunny days. Make sure it’s really sunny that the roads and trails are dry enough because the area is landslide-prone (due to its soft and almost all-soil terrains).
- Find cheap thrills! LOL I mean, cheap rides. That’s the habal-habal ride. Bargain harder! 😂
- Travel light. It’s not the light that travels too fast as per your Physics class. I’m referring to your travel belongings. Remember, it’s a bumpy ride. Personally, I only brought a regular-sized backpack with my gadgets, wallet, sunglasses and an extra piece of shirt in it. You might also love this Urban Hikers Lash Tab Casual Backpack that I ordered from Lazada.
- Observe responsible tourism. No stepping on the plants nor picking of the flowers. Much more, if you have, keep your trashes with you. Let’s keep the garden clean.
